Craving Asian food? You’re not alone! This recipe lets you enjoy a classic from your favorite Chinese buffet, right in your own kitchen. These Chinese Buffet Green Beans are incredibly easy to make, and they deliver that perfect balance of sweet and savory that everyone loves.

Forget takeout! This recipe is a budget-friendly way to satisfy your cravings. It’s perfect for those who, like me, find themselves a bit far from the nearest restaurant. The peace and quiet of a home-cooked meal is a worthwhile trade-off for the convenience of take-out.

I remember visiting our local Chinese buffet in North Carolina. Their green beans were a standout – tender-crisp, and bursting with flavor. These homemade green beans aim to replicate that unforgettable taste. My kids adore this dish, often vying for seconds. That’s always a good sign! I hope your family enjoys them just as much.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Microwave the green beans for half of the time stated on the package.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, oyster sauce, and soy sauce. Set aside.
  3. Heat peanut oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the minced garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 20 -30 seconds. Add the green beans to the pan; cook and stir until the green beans begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Stir in soy sauce mixture. Continue cooking and stirring for several minutes until the beans have attained the desired degree of tenderness and the sauce has thickened slightly. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh green beans in season. Blanch them in place of step one before proceeding with the recipe.
